Itinerary

Day 01Arrival at Guwahati and Drive to Shillong

  • Assemble at Guwahati Airport
  • Group meets and introductions
  • Drive to Shillong, stopping by Umiam Lake on the way
  • Check-in and evening walk at Police Bazar
  • Overnight stay in Shillong

The first day moves easy. Umiam Lake feels almost endless with its quiet waters, and reaching Shillong before sunset leaves enough time to grab a coffee, stretch your legs in the markets, and start feeling part of the group.

Day 02Exploring Shillong

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Visit the cascading Elephant Falls
  • Drive up to Laitlum Canyon for valley views
  • Stroll through Lady Hydari Park
  • Drop by Don Bosco Museum for a glimpse into local cultures
  • Overnight stay in Shillong

The day blends movement with slow moments. Elephant Falls thunders nearby, while Laitlum Canyon opens into air and mist that stretches far past the edges of the cliffs. You’ll notice Shillong isn’t loud; it’s the quiet kind of beautiful.

Day 03Shillong to Dawki via Mawlynnong

  • Morning drive to Mawlynnong Village, Asia’s cleanest village
  • Walk through gardens, bamboo walkways, and tiny chapels
  • Continue to Dawki River
  • Boating on crystal-clear waters at Dawki
  • Overnight stay near Dawki

Villages like Mawlynnong don’t feel touristy. They just feel well-loved. And Dawki’s river? You won’t forget it. The boats look like they’re floating on air. You’ll want to sit still for a while and just watch the river move under you.

Day 04Dawki to Cherrapunjee

  • Slow breakfast by the riverside
  • Drive towards Cherrapunjee
  • Visit the natural limestone caverns at Mawsmai Caves
  • Take in the wide views from Mawkodok Dympep Valley
  • Free time in Cherrapunjee town
  • Overnight stay in Cherrapunjee

Today, the landscape starts to change again—cliffs rising sharper, valleys dropping deeper. Inside Mawsmai Caves, the walls twist and shine like the inside of a seashell. Outside, the valleys seem to stretch forever.

Day 05Double Decker Living Root Bridge Trek

  • Early start to Tyrna Village
  • Begin the 3,000-step trek down to the Double Decker Living Root Bridge
  • Spend time exploring the natural bridges and waterfalls
  • Return climb to base village
  • Overnight stay in Cherrapunjee

No photo can prepare you for standing on a bridge made from living roots. This trek isn’t about speed—it’s about reaching a place built by patience, grown over decades, holding strong over running water.

Day 06Cherrapunjee to Guwahati

  • Morning visit to Nohkalikai Falls viewpoint
  • Short hike to Wei Sawdong Waterfalls (multi-tier falls hidden deep in the forest)
  • Long drive back to Guwahati
  • Evening free for packing, small walks, or just resting
  • Overnight stay in Guwahati

Today’s waterfalls mark the trip’s emotional curve. Nohkalikai roars from a cliff like a silver ribbon, while Wei Sawdong hides, layered and quiet, deep among the trees. Then the road starts pulling back toward the plains.

Day 07Departure from Guwahati

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Transfer to Guwahati Airport
  • Trip ends

By now, it’s more than just a trip. You’ll know some new faces, have river stones in your bag, maybe even a few extra hill songs stuck in your head.
