Overview

Nepal is one of those places where every moment feels a bit more alive. You’ve got Himalayan backdrops, ancient temples, chaotic-yet-charming city streets, and wildlife that feels straight out of a documentary. This trip blends it all—perfectly paced for families, friends, or even that multi-generational crew. It’s a classic choice for those browsing Nepal tour packages for family, or even people comparing Nepal and Bhutan tour packages but leaning into one for now.

Itinerary

Day 01Kathmandu Kickoff & Check-in

  • Arrival at Kathmandu Airport
  • Meet your local rep and transfer to the hotel
  • Check in, grab a welcome drink, relax
  • Evening free—maybe stroll around Thamel or just crash early

That first evening sets the tone. You’re not rushing; the mountain air does that thing where it makes you feel like time has its own rhythm.

Day 02Sacred Sites & City Charm

  • Visit Pashupatinath Temple
  • Boudhanath Stupa
  • Swayambhunath (aka Monkey Temple)
  • Jal Narayan Temple
  • Walk through Kathmandu Durbar Square

You’ll feel the mix of old-world spirituality and that distinctive, noisy charm of Nepali streets. Great day to keep your camera handy.

Day 03Pokhara Road Trip (via Manakamana)

  • Road trip to Pokhara (around 7 hours)
  • Stop at Manakamana Temple via cable car
  • Reach Pokhara, check-in and unwind

Long drive, but worth every curve. Manakamana gives you a moment of serenity, and Pokhara welcomes you with lake breeze and mountain silhouettes.

Day 04Pokhara’s Postcard Moments

  • Sunrise from Sarangkot
  • Bindabasini Temple
  • Devi’s Fall & Gupteshwor Cave
  • Seti River Gorge
  • Boat ride on Phewa Lake (optional)
  • Taal Barahi Temple

It’s a full day, but Pokhara doesn’t rush you. Every stop feels like a travel magazine cover shot—only real.

Day 05Into the Wild: Drive to Chitwan

  • Scenic drive to Chitwan (about 5 hours)
  • Check into jungle lodge
  • Free evening to sit by the fire or just hear the forest

This stretch is the switch—from lakes to leaves, temples to tigers (if you’re lucky).

Day 06Jungle Day at Chitwan

  • Canoe ride on the Rapti River
  • Visit the Elephant Breeding Centre
  • Elephant-back safari through the park
  • Jeep safari for a different terrain
  • Optional birdwatching walk

Chitwan might be your kids’ favorite memory—or yours. Real nature, not the polished kind.

Day 07Return to Kathmandu

  • Morning breakfast, then drive back to the capital
  • Free evening to shop for souvenirs or street eats in Thamel

No shame in bargaining hard for that yak wool shawl you may never wear.

Day 08Departure

  • Breakfast and airport drop

Fly out with stories, probably a few fridge magnets too
